Why the Poconos are Perfect for Camp

11.17.23

ISTC is one of a kind to the Pocono Mountains in Northeast Pennsylvania. Although our energetic campers and dedicated staff bring our programs to life each summer, there’s no denying that our beautiful location is part of the summertime magic. Namely, being in the Pocono Mountains creates our community, program, and feeling of escape for our campers.

Diverse Community

Our location lends itself to a varied community of campers and staff. We are about an hour from the New Jersey border, two hours from Philadelphia, and 90 minutes from New York City. As a result, the ISTC community is a culmination of towns and cities in proximity: Westfield, NJ; Garden City, NY; Media, PA; and even New Canaan, CT to name a few. Having campers from so many different places gives everyone the opportunity to make new friends and expand their social network.

From a staff perspective, we could not be International Sports Training Camp without our international counselors and coaches. We are incredibly grateful that being so close to major cities means our international team can get here each summer. Being in the Poconos, we are close to several ski mountains and resorts as well, which translates to high interest from seasonal American staff. Having a diverse staff allows us to continue to bring in the best people for our campers each year.

Program

We are not too far from the main streets of Stroudsburg but are surrounded by trees and greenery. Being off the main roads gives ISTC a serene feeling, but also gives us the opportunity to create our own culture separate from the neighboring town. We built the facility around our love for outdoor sports and adventure activities. Spacious green fields mean we can play soccer, lacrosse, touch rugby, and other games. Our private lake hosts jet skiing, banana boating, and large inflatables. Forested areas contain our ropes course and mountain bike trails. The possibilities are endless because our facilities are rustic yet modern.
