Home Away from Home – Creating Family Atmosphere at ISTC

11.21.25

As we take to time to celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on another amazing camp year, we are incredibly thankful that ISTC has become a second home for so many campers and staff. Although our overnight programs are focused on adventure and team sports like jet skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and soccer – to name a few signature activities – it is the sense of community and space to create friendships that makes ISTC feel like family. Let’s dive into the heart of our camp atmosphere!

Building Bonds Beyond the Field

One of ISTC’s defining features is the opportunity for campers to form connections beyond the playing field. Away from the pressures of everyday life, campers share cabins, meals, and recreation activities, creating an environment conducive to building friendships without technology.

Shared Experiences – Shared Growth

Our All Sports & IXTC programs bring campers together to experience adventure activities and team sports. Whether it’s conquering a challenge at the Ropes Course or celebrating victories within our cabin-of-the-week competitions, the camp environment quickly becomes a nurturing space where everyone is invested in each other’s success.

Supportive Staff

Our dedicated and caring staff play a crucial role in cultivating family atmosphere. Coaches and counselors are the parents away from home – offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear. This mentorship goes beyond sports instruction, providing campers with a support system focused on making camp as fun as possible.

Embracing Inclusion

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and ISTC is no exception! The diversity of ages, interests, and hometowns contributes to a varied camp community. With staff from around the world, we encourage campers to be curious about each other and the staff. This atmosphere fosters an inclusive feel where everyone is welcomed, valued, and understood.

Final Thoughts

We hope that the family atmosphere at camp serves as the foundation for personal growth, resilience, and the development of life skills that go beyond the reach of our sports programs.
