At the end of every ISTC week, campers are given the chance to voice their ideas for additions to the ISTC experience. While we are still figuring out the if the heavily requested “zip line over the lake” is possible – trust us, we think it would be awesome too – we are beyond excited to announce another popular idea is coming to life! Summer 2026 will be the first in ISTC history to have air conditioning in all of the cabins!
Our team has been hard at work to make air conditioning a reality; cabins 5-10 already have their units installed and we anticipate completing the rest by end of fall. When making changes to our All Sports and IXTC programs, it is important to maintain the camp atmosphere our families have grown to love over the past 35 years. Are the programs still focused on various sports and outdoor activities – yes! Are we still technology free – of course! Do we want our campers to leave with increased confidence and independence – of course! These are only a few considerations our team keeps in mind, and fortunately, we are optimistic air conditioning will only enhance the ISTC experience.
Not only will air conditioning simply feel nice for campers and staff on a day to day basis, we believe it will have genuine benefits for our overnight programs. For campers who are nervous about sleeping away from home for the first time, air conditioning minimizes the differences between life at home and life at camp. It should also help campers sleep better, meaning they have more energy to dedicate to all of the action. Swimming, jet skiing, banana boating, rock climbing, and mountain biking at camp have never been so easy! By introducing modern amenities, campers can simply focus on the best parts of the experience – the sports and friends around them.
Although, air conditioning will be a new way to beat the heat, we’ll continue to manage our activity schedule so groups are staying cool at the lake or playing sport in the shade on extremely hot days. The goal is to always play – safely! Beating the heat in style has always been the ISTC way and we look forward to more sports, friendships, and memories.
