So, you're the rookie joining our team this summer? No problem! We've put this playbook together for you to review during pre-season so when you arrive at ISTC you're ready to go!

What should I expect when I check in?

When you arrive, you'll be directed toward registration, and we'll tell you your counselors' names and your cabin number. Then you'll make your way to the cabin, meet your counselors and your new cabin friends and settle in. All around the camp, you'll see other families and campers doing exactly the same thing. The first thing you have to do after checking in at the cabin is go to the waterfront for your Swim Evaluation. (Don't worry, it's easy).

How does the canteen work? / What do I do with my spending money?

When you register on Sunday you place your spending money in a canteen account. When you go to the canteen there are three windows, you go the the window and place your order for the items you wish to buy. When you get to the cash register you just tell us your name and we subtract your purchases from your account. Just remember, it's up to you to budget your spending money for the length of your stay. Any money you don't spend is returned to you when you check out.

I'm coming to camp alone, will I make friends?

Of course!! Many of our campers come to ISTC by themselves, so there's always lots of other kids wanting to make new friends. The campers that come with friends are looking to make new friends, too! You can even make camp friends before you arrive at camp by leaving messages on our Facebook page. You can find other campers your own age, playing your sport or who just want to know somebody when they arrive.

How do I know when and where to go?

The schedule at ISTC is very simple, and we use a loudspeaker to announce all of the sessions and meal times. Also, your counselors will be with you all the time, so they'll be there to help you and make sure you're in the right place at the right time.

Will camp be fun?

Absolutely!! Camp is awesome. There's so many fun activities and events going on, that you won't have time to be bored. All of the staff at camp are specially selected from all over the world and they are with you to make sure you have a great time.

Who will be in my cabin?

The other campers in your cabin will all be around the same age as you, in fact there is never more than two years age difference. Your cabin will be made up of campers from all the different sports programs. If you have made roommate requests prior to coming to camp, and your ages are within two years, then those requests will be honored.

Can I see the camp before the summer?

Yes - by coming for our camp tours in the fall and spring. They typically last 45 minutes and you get to see all around the camp and even sample camp food! It is a great way to prepare for camp!

How do I contact home?

Chances are, you'll be so busy you won't even feel the need to. If you do want to contact home you can either write a letter or send a postcard (stamps are available in the canteen).

Do you have more questions?

Got a question that we didn't answer here? No problem - there's usually plenty of helpful & friendly campers and staff on our Facebook page.
